What Love Looks Like

A most excellent bowl of Chow Jew Ho Fun. South East Asian comfort food at its best.

    Hi Sophia!

I agree, that is one of my favorite dishes. I love soup noodles and that Oakland place is great. Actually, sometimes I make J go with me to El Cerrito to get Chow Jew Ho Fun when I’m feeling for some comfort food.

I love Chow Jew Ho Fun! Sometimes, I make J go with me to a place in El Cerrito which is slightly different, but also still very delicious. I recognize that Oakland place – they’ve been around for so long and still, I’m guessing, extremely popular.

  • Ah, a woman of my own heart. We should totally go together sometime! I’ve only ever had Chow Jew Ho Fun at Vien Huong. I didn’t know there were other places that had it. They had a branch down here in Milpitas a few years ago but it closed down cuz it didn’t get any business. I think people prefer the more authentic environment in Oakland (by authentic, I mean hole-in-the wall, rude service, dirty, loud, etc.).

The one in El Cerrito do meet those requirements – it is loud, hole in the wall, somewhat rude, and maybe a bit cleaner than the one in Oakland. It’s pretty good, and the broth is a little different (it’s more flavorful). The place is called VH Noodle House. My brother and sister go there a lot. Just make sure you don’t go to the Pho place next door. Totally! We should make a Chow Jew Ho Fun run!
